PORTSMOUTH- William Peter Lombardo, 73, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on January 8, 2018. He was born October 11, 1944 in Auburn, New York to the late Pasquale Lombardo and Helen Kehoeski Lombardo.
Willie is survived by Sandi, his beloved wife of 45 years. Together they have three children, Chris W. Lombardo and his wife Tiffany, David P. Lombardo and his wife Lauren, and Amy M. Lombardo and her fiancé Kyle Loftus. Willie is also survived by five grandchildren, Alex, Ashlyn, Reece, Alyssa, and Shawn; his sisters Patty Brazak and Bernie West; and many nieces and nephews.
Willie was a graduate of Port Byron High School in Port Byron, New York and was a proud U.S. Air Force veteran who served his country during the Vietnam War. After his service, he worked as a diesel technician until he retired in 2004. In his retirement years, he enjoyed fishing, spending time with his grandchildren and sweet dog Bella, and was a master hobbyist who built whimsical models of boats and homes while he watched the birds. He was an environmental enthusiast and a Chesapeake Bay Foundation donor. Willie was known for being the ultimate loving and welcoming host, embraced everyone around him, and was an animated and enchanting storyteller.
Willie was a LifeNet organ donor and his beautiful blue eyes will be donated to a person in need.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday January 19, 2018 at St. Paul Catholic Church, 522 High Street, Portsmouth, VA. The family will hold a private burial at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
