CHESAPEAKE—William E. Lewis, 89, passed away May 1, 2024.

A native of Portsmouth, Mr. Lewis was the son of the late Robert B. Lewis, Jr. and Mary D. Lewis. He retired from the Virginia Employment Commission as a hearing officer. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and served in the U.S. Air Force.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Barb L. Lewis, and nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert B. Lewis III, and his sister, Mary Anne Currey.

A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, at Foster Funeral Home, 1926 High St., Portsmouth, with visitation an hour prior. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Norfolk.
