W.F. "Charlie" Johnson, 88, died peacefully August 25, 2015 in his home.
Mr. Johnson, a native of Bertie County, N.C., was the son of the late William M. and Martha Ellen Brown Johnson. He served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Following his military service, he worked as an auto mechanic at Tyree-Jones Ford in Portsmouth. In 1968 he became associated with Action Olds-Cadillac in Portsmouth and, because of his loyal customer following, he was one of their top salesman for the next 43 years. He retired in 2011. He was the widower of Iris Taylor "Boots" Johnson, his beloved wife of 66 years. She preceded him in death in April of 2015.
Survivors include his three sisters, Helen J. Farmer, Jean J. Pierce, and Faye J. Thompson. He is also predeceased by three brothers, Wesley Johnson, Jesse Johnson, and David Johnson.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, 220 Kings Highway, Suffolk, VA 23432, by Pastor Brandon Nichols.
