Warren J.
Brooks, Jr.
Dec 15, 1953 — Nov 11, 2021
Suffolk
SUFFOLK—Warren J. Brooks, Jr., 67, of Suffolk passed away November 11, 2021, following a long struggle with cancer and other complications.
Warren was the oldest of seven children. He enjoyed a game of cards or dice on a Sunday at his mother's home, and family dinners with his in-laws. Warren enjoyed life. He went to every sporting event in which his children played. Fishing was his first love, and he could talk about it for hours. A wall in their family room is filled with fishing citations. He loved his job of 22 years at the Church of St. Thérèse in Chesapeake, where he met many wonderful friends. Warren was an active and long-standing member of the Church of St. Thérèse, the Knights of Columbus 418, and the Portsmouth Anglers Club.
Warren is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jo Ann Suraci Brooks; children Christopher Brooks (Beth) and Sarah Brooks (Eric); and cherished grandchildren Lilyann Brooks, Tiernan Wallace, and Hadley Brooks; his siblings Kathy (Mark), Doug (Linda), Meg (Ray), John, and Amy; in-laws Kathy (Don), Mary (Al), and Su; and many nieces and nephews. Warren was predeceased by parents Warren, Sr. and Eileen Brooks; sister Jane Brooks Castillo; and in-laws Joseph and Patricia Suraci.
Warren suffered much and was ready when God called him from his earthly home. A special thank you to all the family, friends, and caregivers for your outpouring of love, prayers, and thoughtfulness during Warren's prolonged illness. An extra thank you to Ed Chartier, Rowan Jones, and Yvonne Matson, special friends who were always there when needed. Thanks also to the many good people at Heartland Hospice.
