Virginia Gallagher Cantwell passed away on January 17, 2024, at the age of 87.

Virginia was predeceased by her husband John (Jack) Roger Cantwell, Sr. and her sons John Roger Cantwell, Jr., Kevin Anthony Cantwell, and Stephen Patrick Cantwell.   Virginia is survived by her daughter Julia Cantwell Sillery and son-in-law Scott Sillery, her son Michael James Cantwell and daughter-in-law Suzanne Cantwell. Also, her granddaughters Sonya Farrell, Megan Cantwell, Alexandra Cantwell, and grandson Adam Cantwell.  Plus, many great-grandchildren she loved fiercely.

Virginia devoted 30 years as an emergency and critical care nurse/administrator at Maryview Hospital.  She was admired by many of her friends and colleagues.

Virginia's life will be celebrated with a Mass of the Resurrection 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 10, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 522 High St., Portsmouth. Burial will follow in All Saints Catholic Cemetery. A reception will be follow at Church of the Resurrection, 3501 Cedar Lane, Portsmouth, VA. Condolences may be registered at BWFosterFuneralHome.com.
