Thomas L. "Booty" Horton, 73, passed away Friday, September 6, 2013.

A native of Portsmouth, Booty was the son of the late Edgar H. "Eddie" Horton Sr. and Grace Robinson Horton. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, Past Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus #418 and was retired from the retail men's wear business, having worked for Shulmans and Fines Men's Shop. Booty was proud of his Irish heritage and was a lifelong fan of Notre Dame Football.

Booty is survived by his wife of 40 years, Barbara F. "Bobbie" Horton; two sisters, Mary H. Bacon and Martha H. Wells; one brother, Edgar H. "Hunker" Horton, Jr. and sister-in-law, Bobbie D. Horton; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 12 noon Tuesday, September 10, 2013 in St. Paul's Catholic Church, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Gino Rossi. Wearing of the green is encouraged. Following the Mass, a reception will be held at Knights of Columbus #418, 519 County St., Portsmouth. Burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), 291 Independence Blvd., #517, Virginia Beach, Va. 23462; or the Restoration Fund of St. Paul's Catholic Church, 518 High St., Portsmouth, Va. 23704.
