Summer Carroll Smith passed away August 9, 2013. Her battle with cancer was over.

Sum is survived by her Mom, Jimmie Maxey Carroll; her Son, her heart, Frank Steven Smith IV; Big Brother, J. Michael Carroll and wife Elizabeth, their children Ashley, Megan, Jamie and Mike, Jr.; her dear Cousin, Patrick Maxey and wife Kim, their children, Elijah, Jasper and Sophie; her two "favorite" Aunts, Angel (David) Glisan, and Mary Nell Carroll; also Uncles, "Pee Wee" Carroll and Clyde Gress.

She was preceded in death by her Dad, James E. "Jimmie" Carroll; her Minga and Buddy (Maxey); Gaypa and Gayma (Carroll); Aunts Linda Maxey and Patty Gress.

Summer was raised in Portsmouth, was later married and settled in Florida to raise her son and drive "The Mom Bus" to school, to clarinet lessons, to football practice. She loved being Frank's Mom.

A Celebration of Her Life will be held Sunday, August 18th at Foster Funeral Home, Portsmouth, at 2 p.m. Chaplain Charles Chappell will officiate. Family and friends are invited to her Mom's home after the service for fellowship.
