CHESAPEAKE—Stephanie Headen Smith of Chesapeake, Virginia, passed away on August 20, 2021 at 57 years old. She was born in Norfolk, VA to the late Jack and Sue Headen on April 15, 1964.
Stephanie grew up a Western Branch Bruin in Chesapeake, with her brother Michael and sister Theresa, surrounded by family and friends doing things she loved, such as singing Hail to the Redskins with her dad, cheering on her Bruins football team, rollerskating, and hanging with her friends.
Stephanie was a successful IT Director who spent her career mentoring and leading many. She embraced opportunities to travel and enjoyed seeing various countries' history, experiencing different cultures and making lifelong friends. Throughout her career, she lived in Cuba, Spain, Italy, England, Singapore, Japan, and Netherlands, as well as many states throughout the US.
In addition to her loving parents, Stephanie was predeceased by her aunts and uncle. She is survived by her beloved husband Ed; their daughter Jacque and son Damien; grandchildren Samantha, Seth, and Savannah; brother Michael; sister Theresa; sisters-by-heart, Eleanor and Robin; niece Rebecca; great-nephew Silas; and many more family and friends.
Stephanie was a true protector and mentor to all. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. Her presence brought joy, laughter, strength, and passion, no matter where, and she will be deeply missed by all.
The family requests that everyone attending Stephanie's services please wear a mask. They will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 25, at Foster Funeral Home, 1926 High St., Portsmouth. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 26, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 522 High St., Portsmouth. Condolences may be registered at BWFosterFuneralHome.com.
