Sharon D.
Simpson
Mar 1, 1942 — Feb 26, 2019
Suffolk
SUFFOLK- On February 26, 2019, Sharon Dorette Simpson, loving mother, grandma, and great-grandmother, passed away at the age of 76, after a long battle with cancer. She was surrounded by family who showered her with love and peace, as she closed her eyes and joined the love of her life, Ronald D. Simpson, in heaven.
Sharon was born in Sioux Falls, SD to the late Ben Stack and Tilda Skie. In 1960, she married Ronald in California. Together they raised three children. Sharon traveled a lot and lived in many places due to being a military spouse, but she finally put down roots in Virginia, where she has resided for the past twenty-six years.
Sharon took great pride in taking care of the home, her children and her grandchildren. She had a quick wit and would always surprise everyone with her comebacks, comments, and strength. Her home was always stocked with snacks and drinks for anyone who stopped by to visit. For anyone who needed it, she had an ear to listen and a shoulder to cry on. She enjoyed listening to Elvis and country music, playing her Facebook games, puzzles, and word searches. Her life and home were decorated with dreamcatchers and anything else that made her smile. She loved to watch her stories at 2 p.m., QVC, Steve Harvey on Family Feud, and Shark Tank marathons.
In addition to her husband and parents, Sharon was preceded in death by her sister, Dianne Reynolds, and her brother, Allen Stack. She is survived by her three children, Tammy Perry, Terry Simpson, and Michele Mayo; four brothers, LeRoy, Leonard, Lloyd, and Verl Stack; two sisters, Betty Heredia and Roxy Houg, grandchildren Ashleigh Parrott, Cody Simpson, Christopher Cowart, Rachel Simpson, Krystle Backs, and Ryanne Simpson; and six great-grandchildren.
Family will receive friends from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m., Friday, March 1, at Baker-Foster Funeral Home, 5685 Lee Farm Ln., Suffolk. Burial beside her husband in Arlington National Cemetery will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cancer Care Foundation of Tidewater, ccfot.org. Condolences may be registered at BWFosterFuneralHome.com
