Robert Thomas "Bob" Stuart, 89, passed away Sept. 20, 2014. He was predeceased by Mary R. Stuart, his loving wife of 49 years.

Mr. Stuart, a native of Portsmouth, was the son of the late Daniel T. and Lena A. Stuart. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Following his military service he worked as a sporting goods sales associate and retired as co-owner of Harrell's Sports Shop. He was a member of the Portsmouth Cosmopolitan Club, the Churchland Seniors, Western Branch Lanes Bowling League Team, 4-Friends, and enjoyed table tennis and sailing. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Catholic Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Marie S. Slagle and husband Eddie; son, Robert G. Stuart and wife Denise; a granddaughter, Crystal L. Stuart; and great-grandson, Tristan W. Blow.

A graveside funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, in Olive Branch Cemetery by Rev. Jet Garcia. Friends may join the family Wednesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Foster Funeral Home, Portsmouth. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
