Obituary

Richard Doolittle Holmes, 74, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2017 with his children by his side.
A native of West Hartford, Connecticut, Richard graduated from Avon Old Farms and attended Boston University before moving to Virginia Beach in 1967. He had a long and successful career in sales and management with various companies in the region. His passions included sailing on the Chesapeake Bay, playing his banjo, camping, and off-roading in his vintage Land Rovers.
He was the widower of Priscilla "PJ" Leche Holmes since 2004. He is survived by three children from his first marriage, a son and two daughters and their spouses: Eric and Jessica Holmes, Suzanne and Jeff Case, Lindy and Jordan Williams, and six grandchildren; a brother: Stephen Holmes, a sister: Nancy Powers, and their families.
In lieu of a public service a private family memorial will be held.
Memorial donations in Richard's name can be made to the Outer Banks Preservation Association (OBPA), to support open beach driving access, a cause he actively supported. Condolences may be registered at BWFosterFuneralHome.com
