PORTSMOUTH—Richard C. "Ricky" Harrell, Jr., a Park Manor native of Portsmouth, VA, passed away on January 23, 2025. He was born on July 29,1959 to Verna Facenda Harrell and Richard C. Harrell, Sr.
In addition to his parents, Rick was predeceased by his brother, Timothy Aaron Harrell, Sr. Survivors include his stepfather, Timothy A. Bradshaw of Portsmouth; his son, Richard C. "Trey" Harrell III, of Portsmouth; a sister, Sharon Pope Turner, of Portsmouth; brother Kenneth Bradshaw, of Portsmouth; two nieces: Jennifer P. Cote, of North Carolina, and Kelly P. Weymouth, of Maine; nephew Timothy A. Harrell, Jr., of Portsmouth; and numerous cousins.
A graduate of I.C. Norcom High School, Rick and his friends were known for running Fass Brothers Fish House. He was an avid Miami Dolphins fan. As a 30-year veteran of the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, he helped many as the union steward. As a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, he served as an usher. He had good friends and a good life.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 4, at Foster Funeral Home, 1926 High St., Portsmouth. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 5, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 522 High St., Portsmouth. Interment will immediately follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 3920 Airline Blvd., Chesapeake. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church.
