Ralph Edward Evans, 89, passed away Thursday July 4, 2013.

Ralph was born in Bluefield, West Virginia the son of the late Jesse Martin and Ruby Hazel Evans. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, having served with the Par-a-Troopers. Ralph was retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a ship fitter with 23 years of service.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Ola Jean Evans; two sisters, Mary Jefferson of Portsmouth, Joyce Reid of South Carolina; two brothers, Charles Evans and Richard Evans of Portsmouth; a special niece and nephew, Patricia Butler and Jeffery Jefferson, as well as numerous other nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 9, at 2:00 p.m. in Greenlawn Memorial Mausoleum Chapel, Chesapeake by the Rev. Tom Potter. The family will receive friends at Baker-Foster Funeral Home, Bennett's Creek Chapel, 5685 Lee Farm Lane, Suffolk, VA from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday.
