Born in Watertown, New York, she was the daughter of Walter and Virginia Daly.  In 1965 she and her family moved from their home in Ilion, New York to Portsmouth, Virginia, when her husband Bernie was transferred with General Electric Company.

Predeceased by her husband, Bernard M. Brown, she is survived by her three loving children, Susan Brown Comer (Don), Teresa Brown Madden (Larry), Michael J. Brown (Cheryl) and grandchildren Kathleen Comer Mozzi (Anthony) and Conor M. Brown.
