Norman Query, 79, of Portsmouth, Virginia passed away on September 5, 2020. He was born in Portsmouth, Virginia on September 5,1941.  He was the son of the late Leo Francis Query, Sr. and Mary Hall Query.

In addition to his parents, Norman was preceded in death by Frank and Lillian Dixon (paternal aunt) who raised him; cousins James, Robert, Joseph Dixon (Nancy), and Anne Dixon Brown, whom he considered brothers and sister; biological brothers Leo Francis Query, Jr. (Bubba), Donald Query, James Query (Jimmy); sister, Mary Kathleen Whitehurst (Robert), Mabel Query (stepmother); and great granddaughter, Layne Younkins.

Norman is survived by five children: Dawn Younkins (David), Christopher Query (Rhonda), Stephen Query, Shannon Everett (Glen), Michael Query (Carolyn); nine grandchildren, Nicholas Younkins, Jeffrey Younkins (Ashlyn), Cameron Query, Austin Younkins, Jerret VonBernewitz, Landon Younkins, Brayden Query, Cora Query, and Colin Query; as well as a great-grandson who is expected in March 2021.  He is also survived by the mother of his children, Juliette A. Mounie (Judy), two sisters, Gloria Query and Denise Query, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Norman graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, Portsmouth, VA in 1961. He loved reading and sports, especially Notre Dame football.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated, at a future time, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Portsmouth, VA.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to Foster Funeral Home. The family-run funeral home has provided comfort and compassion through handling arrangements for countless family members and friends over the years; most recently for Norman's great granddaughter, Layne.
