Obituary

Chesapeake – Nina Lockridge Wolf, a woman whose boundless compassion, deep empathy, and unwavering kindness touched countless lives, passed away unexpectedly on May 23, 2025, at the age of 74. Her sudden departure leaves a profound void, yet her spirit of love and generosity will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew her.

Born on December 19, 1950, in Sacramento, California, Nina dedicated her life to caring for others. A proud 1972 graduate of DePaul Hospital School of Nursing, she spent her entire career as a Registered Nurse. Nina met Jeffrey Wolf in 1971, and they were married on January 5, 1974, beginning a deeply loving partnership that lasted over 50 years. Of her nursing career, she dedicated 20 of those years working alongside her beloved husband, Dr. Wolf, as his partner and an RN, a profession that perfectly aligned with her nurturing spirit. Beyond her professional duties, Nina volunteered her nursing expertise on the Board of Directors for the Tidewater AIDS Crisis Task Force and contributed to the local arts community by serving on the Board of Directors for the Todd Rosenlieb Dance Company.

Beyond her remarkable career and selfless volunteer work, Nina found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life. She cherished tending her vibrant garden, found adventure and wonder in travel, and, above all, treasured every moment spent with her beloved family, which included her trusted sidekick, her chocolate Labradoodle, Atticus.

Nina's presence was a true gift to everyone she encountered. She was known for giving her all to anyone in need, always willing to celebrate others' successes, and meticulously remembering every birthday and significant event – a testament to her thoughtful nature. Friends and family will fondly recall her legendary cream cheese icing, her famous "junky" tuna, and other cherished comfort foods, such as her jambalaya. Her family's tradition of family dinners demonstrated how she fostered strong bonds, as Nina was always delighted to pull up extra chairs for anyone the family brought home without question. Like in her favorite movie, The Wizard of Oz, Nina truly believed "there's no place like home," and she effortlessly made everyone feel welcomed and truly like part of the family. More than anything, Nina was a trusted confidante, always there to listen without judgment, offering an accepting heart and making everyone feel seen, heard, and valued. She was also blessed with a cherished circle of lifelong friends who shared in her joys and supported her throughout her life. Nina leaves behind a community profoundly saddened by her sudden passing but eternally grateful for the abundant love and light she shared so freely.

Nina's enduring legacy lives on through her devoted husband, Dr. Jeffrey Wolf, and her loving children: Sarah Wright (Roland) and Lawren Wolf (Misti Lucero-Wolf). She was a proud and adoring grandmother to Joshua Wright, Jacob Wright, Nathan Wright, and Grayson Wolf. She is also survived by her sister, Paige Lockridge. Nina was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Grace M. Lockridge, and her mother-in-law, Norma Wolf, with whom she shared a deeply loving and meaningful bond.

A Celebration of Life for Nina will be held on June 7, 2025. Details of the private service have been shared with family and close friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that acts of kindness be performed in Nina's spirit, honoring her lifelong legacy of compassion and generosity. Condolences may be registered at BWFosterFuneralHome.com.
