Michael E.
Pauler
Aug 2, 1943 — Aug 13, 2021
Portsmouth
PORTSMOUTH—Michael E. Pauler, 78, died peacefully at home on August 13, 2021, surrounded by his family.
Mike was born in Baytown, TX on August 2,1943 and was the son of the late Emil and Annie Pauler. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Braus of Kingwood, TX. Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 51 years, Cynthia Smith Pauler; his daughters, Elizabeth Smith and Emily Pauler; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends.
After graduating from Lee Junior College, he enlisted in the US Navy, which brought him to Virginia; he later retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. Mike was a longtime member of St. Paul Catholic Church; member of the Moose Lodge #898, where he was part of the ritual team; and later joined the Knights of Columbus, St. Paul's Council #418. As a dedicated member of the Knights, he served as Grand Knight, member of the 4th Degree St. Paul's Assembly, and Faithful Navigator.
Mike will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, uncle, and friend. Anyone who knew him was touched by his kindness, generosity, and willingness to help others. He volunteered for many different roles—bus driver and videographer for his daughters' school and athletic endeavors, an usher at church, and countless events through the Knights.
The family would like to thank the staff of Comfort Care Hospice for their excellent care of Mike.
