PORTSMOUTH—Mary Marcella Snyder, 88, passed away January 21, 2021. She was born in Norfolk to the late Charles Shafter Pugh and Mary Musselman Pugh Nelson.

Mary loved books and was a voracious reader.  She was a longtime participating member of Monumental United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Snyder. Loved by all, she is survived by her son, Joseph Snyder and daughter, Susan Snyder Overbey; one grandson, David Fletcher, and one great-grandson; brother, Rev. John Edward Pugh; sister Jean Major; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Services will not be held at this time due to the virus, but she will be interred at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens at a later date.  Condolences may be registered at BWFosterFuneralHome.com.
