She is survived by her brothers, Matt Finucane and Timothy Finucane, his wife Sheila Finucane; her children Timothy Riordan, his fiancé Beth Porterfield, Mike Riordan and his fiancé Karen Lowe, Maura Riordan Gabriel, and her husband David Gabriel. Pat had 4 grandchildren, whom she adored. She is survived by Abigail Riordan, her wife McKenzie Riordan, Aiden Gabriel, and Kieran Gabriel and predeceased by her grandson, Jake Riordan. Pat also leaves behind beloved nieces and their families, Jennifer Finucane, her husband Michael Caron and children Olivia, Luke, and Violet, Catherine Finucane, her husband Joseph Sadusk and children Neve and Lena, Elizabeth Finucane and child George, and Monica Finucane, her husband Karl Braunsdorf and children Kara and John.
There are also many longterm friends and neighbors who were like family to Pat, whom she loved immensely and who will miss her dearly.
Pat lived a full life. In her youth, she enjoyed playing basketball, dancing, Rockaway Beach, and Coney Island.
As a parent, she had her children's backs with unwavering support. She volunteered for her children's schools, activities, and sports teams. As a nana, she loved spending time with Jake and Abigail, especially taking them to Portsmouth Children Museum. Years later, she found herself taking her next set of grandkids, Aiden and Kieran, to the Children's and Science Museums in Portland, OR.
In addition to her roles as mom and nana, Pat found her activities within the Resurrection Church Community especially fulfilling. Whether it was helping with food drives, serving as eucharistic minister, preparing for the bazaar, or spending time at OASIS, she was always willing to step in to help. She served many roles over the years and loved the camaraderie and peace this brought her. Many of her best friendships were born out of her time at Resurrection and her desire to stay active and involved. She had a very special circle of wonderful friends who loved a lively game of bridge.
Pat was fiercely independent. She enjoyed working and learning and did many different things throughout her life. Her work life began as a medical assistant and later an EKG technician. She was a realtor for a short time before dedicating many decades to tax preparation for the City of Portsmouth, and volunteering with AARP. She expressed she may have missed her calling in the medical world, though, as she most fondly recalled her time as a medical assistant and EKG tech.
Her family and friends loved all of these things about her and will miss her tremendously. The family is planning a celebration of life service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Oasis Social Ministry , 800A Williamsburg Ave., Portsmouth, VA 23704.
