Mary Ann
Resolute
Jun 26, 1943 — Jun 20, 2023
Chesapeake
Chesapeake- Mary Ann Resolute passed away on Tuesday, June 20th, 2023. She was born in Portsmouth, VA, the beloved daughter of Matthew J. and Rosina Bisese Russo.
Mary Ann was predeceased by her parents, her sister, Antoinette Lascara, her brothers, Joseph P. Russo, Dr. Samuel Russo, and Matthew J. Russo, Jr. She was also predeceased by her beloved daughter, Rosina Cecelia Resolute.
Survivors left to cherish her memory are her husband James A. Resolute, Sr., a son, James A. Resolute Jr. (Melissa), a daughter, Suzanne Resolute and two grandchildren, Wyatt Simpson, and Anna Simpson
A devoted homemaker, she always put family first. Her family was her passion. As a result of the death of her daughter, Rosina, to childhood leukemia, she was a founding board member of the Tidewater Ronald McDonald's House (TRMH). She personally led and coordinated the decorating and furnishing effort in the TRMH with assistance from Haynes and Marcia Two.
Mary Ann was also a proud member of St. Paul's H.S. class of 1961. She was the office manager for her brother Sam's dental practice for 13 years.
Her husband, children and grandchildren were her world. She reveled in their successes and was the first one there to pick them up when they stumbled. But Mary Ann's love of family extended beyond her immediate family. In addition to being a wonderful wife and mother, she was a caring and loving daughter, sister, aunt, and cousin. She kept the family together in good times and in bad. She always took it upon herself to host holidays and special occasion events to ensure that the family stayed together. Mary Ann was truly an anchor for her family. Her passing leaves a huge hole in our family that will be hard to fill.
A true and loyal friend, she loved her bridge club members, Saint Paul's high school classmates, and all the friendships she made throughout her life. Whether you were family or friend you could always count on Mary Ann when times were tough. She will be greatly missed.
