Mary Paulette Hill Bathurst
Paulette Bathurst, 78, of Portsmouth, Virginia, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2026. She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul C. Hill, Sr. and Pauline McGrath Hill.
Paulette was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished sister, kind aunt, and faithful friend whose kindness, compassion, and devotion to her family touched the lives of many.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Rodney C. Bathurst; her son, Jason Bathurst; her brother, Paul C. Hill, Jr. (Lucy); her sister, Paula Hill Holland (Billy); her sister-in-law, Linda Taylor (Mark); and her mother-in-law, Marjorie Bathurst.
She also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews, including Joseph "Jody" Hill (Dominique), Robert "Robbie" Hill (Amanda), William Holland (Kim); Patrick Holland (Sarah), and Sean Taylor (Elizabeth). Paulette was blessed with many grandnieces and grandnephews, including Collins, Colton, Channing, Haynes, Thomas, Meriel, Weylin, Darcy, and Andrew.
Paulette received her early education at Little Flower Elementary School and graduated from Portsmouth Catholic High School. She continued her education at Tidewater Community College, where she earned an Associate of Applied Science with a major in accounting.
Before retiring, she dedicated her professional life to serving others through her work with the United States Coast Guard, Dr. Tiesenga, and Poplar Hill Physical Therapy, where she was entrusted with accounting, payroll, and billing. She was known for her caring nature, professionalism, and the many relationships she built throughout her career.
A woman of deep faith, Paulette was a devoted member of the Church of St. Therese in Chesapeake, Virginia. Her faith and her love for her family guided her throughout her life, and she will be remembered for the warmth, generosity, and compassion she shared with those around her.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 24, 2026, at the Church of St. Therese, 4137 Portsmouth Blvd., Chesapeake. The family will receive friends an hour prior at the church. A reception will follow the Mass in the church social hall, followed by interment at Olive Branch Cemetery in Portsmouth.
Paulette's family will forever cherish the love she gave, the memories she created, and the lasting impact she made on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
