Marion C. Marple

Chesapeake - Marion C. Marple, a native of Chesapeake VA died September 2, 2013. She was the daughter of the late Arthur N. Cross and Mary W. Cross, Chesapeake VA. She was retired from the Naval Safety Center, Norfolk VA, as a personnel management specialist.

She is survived by her son, Timothy D. Manning, Sr. (Sharon) of Kernersville NC. Three grandchildren, Timothy D. Manning, Jr. (Melissa) of Columbia SC, Christina M. Dietrich (Noah) of Mumbai India, and Christopher D. Manning of Kernersville NC. Three great-grandchildren, Timothy D. Manning III and Katherine S. Manning and of Columbia SC, and Deliah C. Manning of Greensboro NC. A brother, Donald A. Cross (Doris) of Virginia Beach VA. Sisters-in-law, Luanne Cross of Chesapeake VA, Virginia Manning of Portsmouth VA, Gladys M. Mitchell of Smithfield VA, and Dorothy M. Wilkerson of Norlina, NC. A stepdaughter, Cheri M. Schaefer of Silver Spring MD.

She is pre-deceased by her first and second husbands, Mac E. Manning (Chesapeake VA) and Alfred C. Marple (Silver Spring MD); a brother, Lawrence N. Cross (Portsmouth VA); and a sister-in-law, Marie G. Cross (Virginia Beach VA).

Visitation will be held at Foster Funeral Home, 1926 High Street, Portsmouth VA, on Saturday, Sept. 7, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Sept. 8, at 2 p.m. at the Norfolk Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 1099 Kempsville Road, Norfolk VA, with Don Shaw officiating.

Internment will follow at Riverside Memorial Park, 1000 Indian River Rd., Norfolk VA.
