Mariana Manzione Stephens, 86, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on March 31, 2025. She was born on July 10, 1938, in Portsmouth, Va. to the late Thomas and Addie Hancock Manzione.
Mariana was an honor graduate of St. Paul's High School. She retired from the office of Dr. Bisese, Taylor, Cox and Kail. She made great friends while working there and cherished all of their friendships.
Mariana enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She loved watching them play baseball. She was always the happiest when she was surrounded by her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mariana was predeceased by her husband, Alvis R. Stephens, and her sister, Shirley Miano. She is survived by her four daughters, Lisa Stephens, Amy Willett, Lori Palmatory (Erron), Leslie Piper (Chapin); six grandchildren, Brandon Stephens, Connor Piper, Corey Piper, Ethan Palmatory, Kara Ellis and Evan Palmatory; one great-granddaughter, Addie Stephens; her brother-in-law, John S. Miano; her Aunt Sue Beck; and many loved nieces and nephews.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 522 High St., with interment at Olive Branch Cemetery in Portsmouth immediately after the Mass. A reception will follow at Church of the Resurrection, 3501 Cedar Ln., Portsmouth. Condolences may be registered at BWFosterFuneralHome.com.
