Suffolk - Margaret Rose (Reagan) Whitehurst, 92, formerly of Chesapeake, died on September 9, 2026.
Margaret Rose was born in Portsmouth, Virginia, the daughter of the late James C. and Zita D. Reagan. A life-long member of St. Paul Catholic Church, she volunteered for the OASIS Social ministry serving the hungry and working in the thrift store. Additionally, she worked as an assistant registrar, for many years, for the city of Chesapeake.
She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Frank C. Whitehurst, two brothers, James Corbett Reagan, Jr. and Emmet F. Reagan, and a sister, Mary R. Goodman.
Survivors include her two sons, David E. Whitehurst (Robin) and Kevin Lee Whitehurst; a daughter, Anne Whitehurst Brandriff (Art); four grandchildren: Laura Owings (Jon), Jonathan Whitehurst (Emily), Austin Brandriff (Tori), AJ Brandriff; and four great-grandchildren: Everly Owings, Wesley Owings, Declan Whitehurst and Tyde Whitehurst.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Paul Catholic Church, 518 High Street, Portsmouth, on Wednesday September 16, 2026 at 11:00 a.m.. Following the Mass, burial will be held at Olive Branch Cemetery in Portsmouth.
Family and friends are invited to a reception in her honor at 2:30 p.m. at 1894 Ames Circle West, Chesapeake, Virginia.
The family requests that donations be made to the St. Paul Restoration Fund, 3501 Cedar Lane, Portsmouth, Virginia 23703.
