PORTSMOUTH--M. David McRae passed away, in the home that he loved, on June 30, 2024.  Born in Lumberton, North Carolina to Morris and Aleene Britt McRae, he was a graduate of Wake Forest University and spent 35 years teaching in Virginia Public Schools.

An avid reader, David was always surrounded by an avalanche of novels, newspapers and crossword puzzles.  Upon retirement, he lovingly restored and maintained the historic Watts House in Olde Towne Portsmouth. David loved Olde Towne and volunteered for many years with the Ghost Walk, alongside friends he greatly admired.

A celebration of David's life will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, July 14, at his beloved home. Condolences may be registered at BWFosterFuneralHome.com.
