Obituary

Lynn H. Currey, 96, of Williamsburg, died on July 8, 2013. Mr. Currey was born in Springfiled, Ohio to Frank L. and Eva B. Currey. He was a WWII Army veteran, serving three year in Persia with the Persian Gulf Command. He retired from the Commonwealth of Virginia having served as Chief of Benefits for the Virginia Employment Commission followed by Director of Special Programs, which included the Appalachian Regional Commission and the Delmarva Advisory Council.

He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Mary Anne Currey. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Terrilynn C. Smith.

Other survivors include two granddaughters, Rachael S. Tunstall and Healther S. Simpson (John); two great-granddaughters, Keighley and Reighley Tunstall; two brothers-in-law, Robert B. Lewis III and William E. Lewis; two special nephews and a niece, Robert B. Lewis IV, Steven T. Lewis, and Terrie L. Crummett and their families.

He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends who were the greatest joy of his life.

The family would like to express its gratitude to Dr. Ralph DeMattia and the nursing staff at Williamsburg Sentara Hospital who provided compassionate care to Mr. Currey. The family would also like to thank his special friends for their love and concern.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 11 a.m. in Olive Branch Cemetery, Portsmouth. Foster Funeral Home, Portsmouth, is assisting the family. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
