Obituary

In Loving Memory of Tracye Kerr
October 18, 1957 – September 11, 2025

With profound sorrow and love, we announce the passing of Lorna Tracye Kerr on September 11, 2025, in Virginia Beach at the age of 67. Tracye's warmth and kindness touched the lives of everyone who knew her and she will be truly missed.

Tracye is predeceased by her father Robert C. Blake and mother L. Patricia Blake. She is survived by her beloved husband, John Kerr and her sons Tyler Kerr, Jared Kerr and daughter in law Mattisen Kerr, and her chosen sons Kenneth Scott and Matthew Owens. She is also survived by her loving sisters: Pamela Blake, Valarie Blake, Leslie Blake, and Shelley Allen and her husband Dennis. Tracye loved her grandsons Carter and Colten with all her heart and was often heard saying it was a grandmother's job to spoil the grandbabies, which she did! She also leaves behind countless friends and extended family who were blessed enough to be part of her world. She will be sorely missed by her granddogs Mike and Lima who always loved spending time with The Treat Lady.

A graduate of Princess Anne High School, Tracye spent her career with the telephone company, eventually retiring after 31 years from Verizon. In her retirement she enjoyed her freedom to spend time with friends and loved ones, enjoyed taking day trips to explore new and familiar restaurants and shops, always looked forward to family trips to the Outer Banks; and playing cards and doing puzzles.

To know Tracye was to be embraced by love. Her ability to make everyone instantly feel like part of the family was truly a gift. Whether it was a beach trip with loved ones or spending time with her dear friends "The Verizon Girls", Tracye brought joy, laughter, and a sense of belonging wherever she went. Entertaining at pool parties and holidays, she loved spending time with family and friends.

Her heart was as big as her smile, and her quiet strength brought light wherever she went. Tracye's love was constant, unwavering, and will truly be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will live on in the lives she touched, the traditions she created, and the love she gave so freely. She was quick to jump in and help anyone, anytime, with anything they needed – Tracye was known for her generosity and genuine caring for everyone she met.

A celebration of Tracye's life will take place from 12:00 Noon to 4:00 p.m., October 18, at her home, 4408 Hudgins Dr., Virginia Beach. In the meantime, we hold her close in our hearts, remembering a woman who was truly one of a kind. In lieu of flowers kindly consider a donation to one of the Volunteer Rescue Squads of Virginia Beach in her honor. Condolences may be registered at BWFosterFuneralHome.com.
