Loretta DiPaolo Tretola
PORTSMOUTH- Loretta DiPaolo Tretola, 95, passed away on August 31, 2017 at Chesapeake General Hospital, surrounded by her family. She was born March 29, 1922 in Scottdale, PA, to the late Vincenzo and Adelina Franciosi DiPaolo. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Frank Tretola; two brothers, Antonio (Dip) DiPaolo and Domenico DiPaolo.
Loretta is retired from the Naval Electronic Systems Engineering Center (NAVELEX) Portsmouth as a Personnel Security Specialist after 42 years of government service. She attended Woodrow Wilson High School.
She is survived by a daughter, Loretta G. Tretola of Springfield, VA; sons Frank M. Tretola (Sara), Vincent O. Tretola (Lisa) and Joseph A. Tretola; grandchildren Christi Tretola Tuggle (David), Michael H. Tretola (Emi), Loretta J. (Lori) Whelan, and Jared V. Tretola; great-grandchildren Nathan Whelan, Ethan Tuggle, Hannah Tuggle, and Sola Tretola; a brother, Enrico (Rico) DiPaolo and wife Rose of Richmond, VA; nieces Yvonne DiPaolo Wright, Cynthia Hassenpflug, Dana Huffman, Barbara Williams, and Theresa Oldham; and a nephew, Derek DiPaolo.
A special thank you to the staff of Emily Green Shores Assisted Living for their care while Loretta was a resident from 2010 to January 2017, and to Autumn Care of Chesapeake for the later portion of her life.
The family will receive friends on Monday, September 4, 2017 from 6 to 7p.m. at Baker-Foster Funeral Home, 5685 Lee Farm Ln., Suffolk, VA. The funeral service will be held at 10:30a.m. Tuesday, September 5, in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery, Portsmouth, VA.
