PORTSMOUTH- Linwood "Rusty" Russell Heely, Jr., left this earth September 26, 2017 at the age of 67. He was born 200 years too late. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved reenacting the 1750s. Most times he was more comfortable sitting outside by an open fire than in his easy chair in the house. He had a talent for leather and woodwork and made custom knives. He was a man with many layers.
Rusty was the son of the late Linwood "Lindy" and Mary Ellen Heely. He is survived by his sister, Catherine "Cathy" E. Heely of Portsmouth, VA, as well as a passel of cousins and friends.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held 4:30p.m. Sunday, October 1, 2017, at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 4811 High Street West, Portsmouth, VA. Please come casual, he was not a dress-up man.
