Obituary

PORTSMOUTH—On June 30, 2026, surrounded by her three daughters and husband of 62 years, Linda Barbara (Millwood) Warren passed away after a two-year battle with cancer.

Linda was known to her family and friends as a loving and devoted wife, mother, friend, and caretaker at heart, as evidenced by her long career in nursing. She was a 1965 graduate of South Side School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, PA, after which she began her nursing career at St. Clair Hospital in the emergency room. Although she worked in a variety of nursing roles throughout her more than 50-year career, she always maintained that working in emergency medicine was her favorite because she never knew what she would be faced with, and it kept her skills sharp.

Linda loved the beach, cooking, and was endlessly creative, as evidenced by her abundant "craft room" and her beautiful handmade quilts adorning her home and given as cherished gifts to her daughters and grandchildren. She was also extremely active in parish events, implementing Soup Sundays, participating in the rosary and funeral groups, and decorating the altar for the holidays.

Linda and her beloved husband, Bill, met in high school and were inseparable from the age of 16, marrying in April 1965, and welcoming the first of three daughters two years later. Their family was the center of their world and Linda loved nothing more than spending time with her children and grandchildren during family vacations, sporting events, or relaxing at home. The memories built throughout her life will be cherished forever and are a sustaining force during this time.

Linda is survived by her husband Bill; daughters Amy (Warren) Bassett and her husband John, Allison (Warren) Stewart and her husband Ed, and Ainsley Warren and her fiancé, David Snyder. She is also survived by her grandchildren Nicholas Bassett and his wife Victoria Munoz, Jacob Bassett, Bill and Sarah Stewart, Todd DeWoody and his wife Lauren, Hannah Snyder, Jackson Snyder and his wife Kendra, and her great-grandson Riggins DeWoody.
