Obituary

SUFFOLK—Lillian Ann Brooks Hall, affectionately known to her family as "Oma", went home to her Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday, April 11, 2021.  She was born in Portsmouth, VA to Dr. Vernon A. Brooks, Sr. and Lillian Griffin Brooks on August 31, 1932.

Oma was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and Old Dominion University.  She married the love of her life, James W. Hall, in 1952. She spent many years teaching art at Portsmouth Catholic High School.  Before moving to Suffolk in 2015, she and Jim spent many happy days at their farm in her beloved Mathews, VA, home of her ancestors.

She was predeceased by her parents; older brother, Vernon A. Brooks, Jr.; her husband; her daughter, Cynthia Hall Mobley- Glowacki; and her granddaughter, Rebekah C. Mobley.  She is survived by her daughter, Ann Hall Heely (William); son Brooks W. Hall (Lisa); adopted daughter Lauren E. Merritt (Matt); 7 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.  She will be missed by many friends and extended family members.

A graveside memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 17, at Oak Grove Cemetery on London Blvd. at Peninsula Ave. in Portsmouth.  The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Hampton Roads, 500 E.
