PORTSMOUTH—Lewis Edward Ollice died peacefully on Monday, December 7, 2020, with his loving wife by his side. He was born April 18, 1944 in Portsmouth, Virginia, to the late Frank J. and Ruby Washington Ollice.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Ollice; daughter Cathy Craig-Wilder (Mack) and grandchildren William and Grace; son Stephen Ollice (Melanie) and grandchildren Christopher and Emily; sister Francine O. Mueller (Bob); brother Chris S. Ollice (Jennifer); and many wonderful nephews and nieces, great-grandchildren, and add-on children.

Lewis graduated from St. Paul's Catholic High School in June 1962. He attended William and Mary College with a basketball scholarship till he enlisted in the Army in 1966. After two years in the military, he finished his degree at Old Dominion University to become officer of the month in OCS. He served in Germany and Vietnam as an intelligence officer (2LT) till 1971, receiving multiple metals of honor. Leaving the military for family life, he became a controlling officer in accounting for a newspaper company. Later in life, he enjoyed learning the craft of making wooden sailing boats, then a 25-year career in cross-country trucking , joined by his wife in his last nine years to do all of US and Canada . In his retirement he drove for Chesapeake School System as a special needs driver, and was truly loved by all.

Lewis enjoyed the game of golf and organized yearly golf trips with his brother and friends. While out on the road he became an ambassador for bringing friends together from his Catholic school days, elementary, junior, and high school. One hug from Lewis and you were a friend and family for life. While on the road with his wife, he made it a point to stop and introduce her to his large network of family and friends. He will be missed by so many people.
