– Lewis Milford Bailey, 81, went to be home with his Lord and Savior on December 10, 2015.
Mr. Bailey was born in Bluefield, West Virginia, the son of the late Lewis C. and Virgie Collins Bailey. He serviced in the U. S. Army and the National Guard. He retired from the Norfolk and Western Railroad in Norfolk, VA with 50 years of service as a Conductor. He worked as a Realtor with William E. Woods and Century 21. He was a member and past Deacon at Good News Baptist Church, Chesapeake, VA. Lewis was predeceased by a sister Shelby Hamilton.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Ruth Ann Wynn Bailey; 3 sons, Steve Allan Bailey, James Victor Bailey and Mark Jeffery Bailey and wife Pamela; two grandchildren, Michael David Bailey and wife Emily, Melissa Lauren Alcocer and husband William; a brother, John R. Hambrick and wife Lourdes.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 17, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. in Good News Baptist Church, 3552 Taylor Road, Chesapeake, VA by Pastor Mike Asher, Pastor Dr. Walt Coles and Dr. Pete Lopresti. Burial with U. S. Army Honors will follow in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will received friends on Wednesday from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Baker-Foster Funeral Home, Bennett's Creek Chapel, 5685 Lee Farm Lane, Suffolk, VA.
