PORTSMOUTH-Leoma Markowski Mehalic passed away peacefully from Alzheimer's Disease in her home in the early morning hours of December 1, 2020 In Portsmouth, VA.

She was born April 10, 1921 in Ohio. She met her husband Carl Mehalic there. They later moved to Virginia and made Portsmouth their home. She was a homemaker, raised two sons, and loved to do crossword puzzles and bowl duckpins.

Leoma was a Member of the Church of the Resurrection and attended as long as she could. After she could not, she was visited by lovely ladies from the church to give her weekly communion.

Leoma is predeceased by her parents, Frank Markowski and Marie Frances Dubios Markowski, and by her loving husband of over 60 years, Carl Mehalic. She is survived by her two loving sons, Mark Mehalic and Carl J. Mehalic; 3 granddaughters, Lacey Mehalic-Gilmore (Daniel Gilmore), Erin Mehalic Burr (Andy Burr), Kathleen Mehalic Defabo (Derrick Defabo); and five great-grandchildren, Aidan Prince Gilmore, Gavin Anderson Burr, Zoe Pepper Burr, Jackson Cooper Defabo, and Sydney Frances Defabo.

She will be greatly missed, but we are all comforted knowing she is free and surrounded by friends and family once again. Due to the current circumstances, a memorial service will not be held.
