Obituary

It is with saddened hearts that the Bryant Family of Portsmouth announces the loss of Larry Winston Bryant on Oct. 14, 2014. He was the husband of Janis Cobb Bryant, father to Karen B. Hunter, Laurie B. Dugan (Pat), and Chad Eric Bryant, and the proud "Doo Daddy" to his beloved grandbaby Lila Paige Bryant.

A lifelong resident of Portsmouth, Larry was born July 14, 1943. A graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, he began his boat building career with Columbia Yachts and retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in 2003.

Including his wife of more than 50 years and devoted children, Larry is survived by his mother Lottie B. Bryant; sisters Rebecca DeFelice and Connie Sawyer (Wayne); and his sisters in heart, Patricia Cobb Edwards (Eddie) and Helen Cobb Moore (William); and "the other woman" and constant companion in his life, his yellow Lab, Grace. Larry was predeceased by his father, Gordon J. Bryant and brothers, Jerry W. and William D. Bryant; and favorite mother-in-law, Martha Foard Cobb.

In accordance with his wishes there will be no funeral services. Family and friends are invited to an informal celebration of his life at the home of his daughter, Karen, 433 Riverside Drive in Portsmouth on Saturday, October 18 from 2 to 4 p.m.

Larry treasured his days spent outdoors and would want to be remembered whenever you enjoy the warmth of a sunny day, the smell of a rose in full bloom and the tug of a fish at the end of your line. Memorial donations may be made to the Portsmouth Humane Society in Larry's honor. Condolences may be registered at bwfosterfuneralhome.com
