NORFOLK – Kent Buell Johnson, Jr., 83, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2017.
Mr. Johnson was born in Norfolk, the son of the late Kent B. Johnson and Alice Gayle Johnson. He formerly lived in Portsmouth for many years. He was a graduate of Fishburne Military School, attended Virginia Military Institute and Old Dominion University. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Kent retired in 2007 after a forty-year career in the office furnishing and supply industry. He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Norfolk, where he was very active in their soup kitchen ministry. He was a longtime member of the Portsmouth Rotary Club and was a Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow.
Survivors include his wife, Carol H. Taaffe; a son, Kent Buell Johnson III of Norfolk; a daughter, Ann Perry Johnson Todd and her husband Allen of Jacksonville, Florida; and two grandchildren, Harriet Mendoza Todd and Allen Robertson Todd, Jr.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 22nd at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Norfolk. The Reverend Scott Hennessey will officiate.
