Kenneth Graham
Bass, Sr.
Sep 30, 1946 — Jan 28, 2021
Suffolk
SUFFOLK--Kenneth "KB" Graham Bass, 74, passed away peacefully in his home on January 28, 2021. He fought a good fight, battling through a long illness, and is now resting in peace. He was born in Wilmington, North Carolina and graduated from Wilson High School in 1964.
Kenny enjoyed a long career at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, finally retiring after over 30 years, after having received multiple awards during his time there. He served as an Auxiliary Portsmouth Police Officer for two years and in the National Guard for six years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Simonsdale Teen Club.
Kenny spent his youth passionately playing baseball and then transitioned to playing softball in his adult years. He enjoyed the game and spent many hours on the field making lifelong friends through various teams he was a part of. He enjoyed the game of golf, playing in golf tournaments and going to Myrtle Beach for golf getaways with the guys. And if you were fortunate enough to have been given a watercolor painting by Kenny, keep it, because there will never be another. He was quite the talented watercolor artist! Kenny loved Elvis, hanging out on the swing in his yard with friends and family, tinkering in the garage, and a '66 Corvette.
Kenny is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Barbara Bass, who will miss him greatly. He is predeceased by his father, Graham Laymond Bass, and mother, Hazel Hammond Fowler. He is also survived by his son Kenny Bass, Jr, and wife Teresa; Ogie Parker and wife Deedee; Robbie Parker and girlfriend Christine; and daughter Vickie Frye and husband David; his sister Judy Casarotti and husband Mike; and stepsisters Teresa and Linda; his grandchildren Jonathan Bass and wife Amy, Jeremy Bass, Kelsie Parker and husband Ben, David Frye III, McKenzie Palumbo and husband Galvin, and Alexis Frye.
