PORTSMOUTH – Katherine Anne Turner (Kathy) Goolsby, 88, died September 8, 2026, at Emily Green Shores Assisted Living in Portsmouth, VA.

Many thanks go to the thoughtful and caring staff and management of Emily Green and her wonderful hospice nurses.

Mrs. Goolsby, a native of Southampton County, VA, was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Henry D. (Hank) Goolsby. Kathy is survived by her son, Thomas E. Goolsby and his wife, Vickie of Portsmouth, her sister, Edna Turner Broadhurst and her husband, Michael, also of  Portsmouth, VA and her brother, David F. Turner, Jr. and his wife, Diane, of Kill Devil Hills, NC.

Kathy was a long-time member of First Presbyterian Church in Portsmouth and a Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary International Foundation.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, September 11, 2026, in First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Dr. Gerrit (Skip) Baker-Smith will officiate the service. A reception will follow in the Church Social Hall. Burial will be private at a later date.
