Juliette "Judy"
Mounie
Jul 25, 1944 — Apr 28, 2024
Portsmouth
PORTSMOUTH—With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Juliette "Judy" Ann Mounie, 79, who departed this world on April 28, 2024. She was born on July 25, 1944, in Portsmouth, VA.
Judy was a gentle soul and a friend to all. She was as a loving wife, mother, aunt, cousin, Nana, friend, and "Miss Judy" to many. Judy showed unwavering love to so many, through the daycare she provided, nightly texts to all the special people in her life telling them she loved them—with attached gifs and emojis—as well as midnight chats with Gerry, Mary Ann, or Lenora. Judy had a deep love for God and her family and was an active member of St. Paul's Catholic Church.
The family would like to thank Marjorie, Lenora, and Petra for being there for her when she was no longer able to drive. The family also recognizes the medical care and support provided by the office of Dr. Krunal Patel as well as the ER staff (Lauren) and ICU staff (Maria) at Maryview Medical Center, who provided exceptional care and empathy during her passing.
Judy is survived by her children, Dawn and husband David Younkins, Christopher and wife Rhonda Query, Stephen Query, Shannon and husband Glen Everett, and Michael and wife Carolyn Query; her grandchildren, Nicholas Younkins, Jeffrey and wife Ashlyn Younkins, Austin Younkins, Landon Younkins, Cameron and wife Brittany Query, Jerret Von Bernewitz, Brayden Query, Cora Query, and Colin Query; as well as her great-grandchildren Ava Iturbe, Jace Younkins, and Jordan Younkins. She was preceded in death by her parents Julia Barnes and Charles Mounie; Norman Query; and her great-granddaughter Layne Younkins.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 2 at 1926 High Street in Portsmouth. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 6 at St. Paul Catholic Church, 522 High St., Portsmouth. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holiday House in Portsmouth, Virginia. Condolences may be registered at BWFosterFuneralHome.com.
Judy will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched. May she rest in peace.
