John Robert Stanley, 89, of Chesapeake, entered into Eternal Rest on June 1, 2017.
John was born in Texarkana, Texas to the late Allen Jesse and Lucille England Stanley. He was retired from the U.S. Coast Guard with over 20 years of service. John later worked in the sales of Nutrition Products. He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Georgina Rosario Stanley.
He is survived by his wife Shirley Ann Stanley; brothers Edward and Billie Joe Stanley; two daughters Lucille Norden (Woody), Jacqueline O'Dell (Wayne); a son, Walter Stanley; step- daughter, Ann Hollomond (Tommy); grandchildren, Lisa Sayre, Leslie Cuffee, Roselyn Nolan, Laura O'Dell, Corrine Stanley and Adam Stanley; great grandchildren Courtney, Mariah, Aaliyah, Tiffiny, Jesse, Gabriella, Giovanni, Jeremiah, Jay Jay; great greatgrandchildren, Caiden, Marcelous and Oliver.
A Funeral service will be held at 12 noon Thursday, June 8, 2017, with U.S. Coast Guard Honors at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Road, Suffolk, VA 23434. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at B.W. Foster Funeral Home, 1926 High Street, Portsmouth, VA. Memorial donations may be made to Senior Service of Southeastern Virginia, Meals on Wheels Program, 6350 Center Dr. Suite #101, Norfolk, VA 23502. A special thanks to his caregiver Greg Lowery.
