PORTSMOUTH--John Osborne, 96, born in Louisville, KY, passed from this world on July 7, 2025, joining his loving wife of 68 years, Betty, to live forever in peace.

John was a Korean War veteran and served his country proudly. He went on to study at the University of Louisville Speed School to become an engineer who worked for General Electric.

He was a Scout Leader for his sons, where he engineered some of the fastest Pinewood Derby cars in the area.

His passion for preparing taxes led him to volunteer with AARP, helping seniors with their taxes for over 30 years.

John and his wife, Betty, were active parishioners of the Church of the Resurrection since moving to Virginia in 1973.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty, and survived by his sister, Maggie, his children Teri, Bobby (Amanda), Jube (Lisa), Bill (Sue), Karen (Tommy), Dan (Anna), and Amy (Bruce), as well as 17 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Church of the Resurrection, Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at 11:00am. A private burial will take place at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
