John B. McCormick, 90, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2014. Born in Oil City, PA, he was the first of 12 children born to Bernard and Eleanor McCormick. He is survived by siblings, Bob, Mickey, Betty and Patty.

He proudly served as a U.S. Navy Signalman during World War II in the Pacific Campaign. John was an avid woodcarver and Boy Scout leader and touched many lives through both endeavors.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory: Barbara, his wife of 32 years; four sons, John (Sharon), Richard (Kathy), Dana (Sherry), and Jimmy; four daughters, Kathy (Bob), Carole, Marla (Paul), and Betsy (John); 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, August 26th, 2014 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 4320 Bruce Rd, Chesapeake, VA 23321. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Boy Scouts of America, Tidewater Council, 1032 Heatherwood Dr., Virginia Beach, VA 23455.
