John "Johnny" Edmonds, was born March 23, 1927 and passed away August 4, 2013. He was a master mechanic and owner of Edmonds Foreign Car Service. John was a model builder of ships and planes, sailor and race car driver at VIR and Marlboro and a lover of exotic cars, fast boats and flying models. A life well lived. John was small in stature, large in heart, a loving friend, husband and soul mate and the rock of the family to be sorely missed. He is predeceased by his parents, brother and son John.

He is survived by his loving wife Shela, most beloved son Michael Hines and fiancé Jessa Winn; beloved granddaughter Lillian Schubert Hines and her mother Tanja Schubert. Also surviving him, is his beloved brother-in-law Gordon Edwards and his wife Andrea, their son, Lt. Col. Taylor Edwards and wife Melissa and their children Nicholas and Lauren Edwards. John is survived by good neighbors, friends, family and special buddies Carol Merwin and Vanessa Kiriluk.

Join us for a celebration of life Saturday, August 10 between 2 and 5 in the afternoon at home on the river, Holly Cliff Lane, Portsmouth, VA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Elizabeth River Project or a charity of choice. Or do what John would do, mix a really good martini(extra dry), go sit on the porch and watch the end of the day fade away and the gulls soar.

Condolences may be registered at bwfosterfuneralhome.com.
