James William Tonkin, 60, passed away on Sunday October 23, 2016 in his home.
Jimmy was born in Portsmouth, the son of the late James I. Tonkin, Jr. and Mary F. Little Pires. He was a self-employed painter.
He was survived by his loved and cherished family, including a sister, Christine F. Mayes; a brother, Peter M. Tonkin and wife Myrna Tonkin; numerous nieces, nephews and a few very special friends.
A graveside funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, Oct. 28, 2016 by the Rev. T.M. Frye in Olive Branch Cemetery, Portsmouth. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at B.W. Foster Funeral Home, 1926 High St. Portsmouth. Condolences may be registered at BWFosterFuneralHome.com.
