PENSACOLA, FL- On May 7, 2020, James David Redmond, 77, went to be with the Lord.

Jim was born in Newport News, VA to the late James J. and Isabella Noland Redmond.  He was lovingly raised by his Aunt and Uncle, Marshall and Ruby Noland Leatherwood, all of whom preceded him in death, including his brother Jake Redmond and sisters Jackie Sue Breece and Mary Ann Goerig.

He is survived by his wife and soulmate of 37 years Dianne E. Redmond; two children: James R. Redmond and Corinna R. Escalet; grandsons Gabriel and Nathan Escalet; and his step-daughter Michelle L. Jim had a prestigious career with the U.S. Navy and retired as a Navy SEAL. He went through UDT-R training on the East Coast and graduated with Class 50 E at Little Creek Amphibious Base in December of 1970. Jim served in UDT-21 and SEAL Team 2.  He was active in UDT-SEAL Association and for many years helped raise money for the Association during the East Coast Reunions as the Auctioneer during the Sunday Picnics at the reunions. He retired in 1984 from the Naval Aviation Schools Command in Pensacola, FL.

He was a 32 nd Degree Mason and Officer of Naval Lodge 24 in Pensacola.  He was truly loved by the veterans of this Lodge and the Masons of Florida.  He was a member of the HADJI Shrine Temple in Pensacola and transported many patients to the Shrine Hospital in Tampa, Florida.

He was a long-standing member of the Perdido Bay United Methodist Church in Pensacola, FL, where a Memorial Service will be held for him at a later date.  There will also be a Celebration of Life held for him in Maggie Valley, NC, where he and Dianne enjoyed their summers while operating their business, Leatherwood Cottages.
