PORTSMOUTH—It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved James Michael Jolley on October 11, 2025, at the age of 17 years.

He was predeceased by his great-grandfather Kenneth B. Jolley.

James will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his father Matthew Ryan Jolley; his grandparents James Kenneth (Kenny) Jolley, Amy Luallin, Angela Godfrey, and his special grandmother Paula Arcese; his uncle Christopher B. Jolley; aunts Jessica Tennant and Jamie Lee Godfrey; cousins Jax Jolley, Parker and Levi Tennant, and his great-grandmother Mary Ann Elgin.

James was born in Portsmouth, Va on September 2, 2008. He attended Christopher Academy, Randolph Macon Academy, and Western Branch High School.

James played baseball, basketball, and soccer. He was competitive and excelled at all levels.

His first trip to the beach was when he was 10 months old. He loved it then, and he never missed a chance to boogie, skim board, and surf. He enjoyed playing video games and fishing with his friends.

We are devastated by the loss of our son, grandson, nephew, and friend. We love and miss you James more than words can describe. You will live in our hearts forever.
