James Rudolph "Rudy" Guest, 96, died Thursday October 24, 2013.

Mr. Guest, a native of Monroe, Georgia, was the son of the late Claude Bryron Guest and Ole Marie Borders Guest. He had worked as a store manager in the wholesale appliance business and for W.T. Grant Company in Norfolk. He was a member of Monumental United Methodist Church, Dancer Masters of America, Southside Lion's Club in Chesapeake and served in the United States Marine Corps. Veteran of WWII. On November 26, 1943 he was married to Jean Ballance of Portsmouth in St. John's Episcopal Church by Bishop William A. Brown.
