Obituary

Helen Burke Huver, formerly of Washington, D.C., passed away on March 16, 2023. Helen was born on January 2, 1923, in Medina, NY, and recently celebrated her 100 th birthday.

After a long career with the federal government, Helen retired from the Department of Commerce as the Protocol Officer. In 2000, she moved to Williamsburg to be closer to her family.

Helen always had a thirst for knowledge, and you could often find her reading or working the latest crossword puzzle. She read the Washington Post daily until her final days. She taught her grandchildren many card games and always enjoyed a competitive game of bridge. Helen spent many years traveling the world with friends and family. She never missed an opportunity to share stories and pictures of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Helen is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and James Topping; grandsons Christopher (Holly), Justin (Lindsey), Andrew (Hailey); and five great grandchildren: Jake, Claire, Ellie, Sophie and Kate. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard, and siblings Bob, Mary and Carl.

A Celebration of Life will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 25, at Williamsburg Landing, 5500 Williamsburg Landing Dr.
