Gloria Facenda Christian, 89, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2015 in Newport News, Virginia.
Mrs. Christian, a native of Portsmouth, was the daughter of the late Albert J. and Damaris G. Facenda. She was the widow of Gilbert Christian since his death in 1980. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, and had lovingly shared thousands of hours as a hospital volunteer.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter Gloria "Marcie" Christian and a grandson, Brett Bankos. Survivors include two sons, Kerry Lee Christian and wife Kathryn, and Gilbert Terry Christian; a brother, Aubrey L. Facenda and wife Lee; 4 grandchildren, Alexandra Garvey and husband Kyle, Ashton Christian, Alyssa Christian, Keilah Herrin; and 3 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. Monday at St. Paul Catholic Church, 518 High Street, Portsmouth. Burial will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Monday at B.W. Foster Funeral Home, Portsmouth.
