Flora Therese Palastro Beigle, 93, passed away peacefully on Wednesday December 7, 2016 in Norfolk, VA.
Flo was born in Manhattan, NY and was the widow of William J. Beigle, Jr. who died in 2007. She was a long time resident of Portsmouth, VA where she was an Aquatic Director at the Y.M.C.A and lovingly taught thousands to swim. Flo was a U.S. Navy Veteran of W.W.II., a member of the D.A.V., Red Hat Society and St. Paul Catholic Church. She also devoted many hours as an American Red Cross volunteer.
Survivors include her daughter, Candace B. McCarthy; 3 sons, William J. Beigle III and his wife Joyce, Tony Beigle and wife Judith, and Michael Beigle; 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at the Church of the Resurrection, 3501 Cedar Lane, Portsmouth, VA. The burial will follow in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veteran Cemetery, Suffolk, VA. A reception following the burial will take place at the Church's Fellowship Hall.
